Just had some really shocking news from Roy Hodgkinson.
Greg Brill died in his sleep last night (30 April 2023), suspected heart attack.
He did a 160km cycle and told his wife he had pains in his leg and was going to sleep it off.
Greg was a stalwart of the old Wanderers Waterpolo and was instrumental in keeping the side together during their days at Marist Inanda and most recently at Wahoo. He was always keen for a game and would give the forwards a hard time whilst defending with his long arms. As a keeper, I will miss his contribution to the game and keeping the “attackers” at bay.
He played his last Masters tournament with the Thirsty Lions in Durban in March 2023.
RIP Greg.
His memorial service and wake will be held at Bryanstan Country Club at 14h00 on Thursday 11 May.
Sadly Bruce was taken by a great white whilst swimming at Plett on 28 June 2022 and unfortunately he did not survive the attack. He was an avid waterpolo player who played for Wanderers and then Wahoo. In addition, he was also a guy who loved his swimming and would always try and get in the extra game or do some extra lengths swimming. His enthusiasm, jovial personality and always wanting-to-play-a-game will be missed by all.
On behalf of all the SA Masters Waterpolo players we express our deepest sympathies to Bruce’s family and friends.
