Late Willie Clark

Willie Nobby Clark passed away from  multiple organ failure.

He played his polo for Edenvale and was a great forward with a crafty left hand. Completed 10 Masters before heart problems preventing him from playing. Even after his playing days he would still frequent the Edenvale pool, watch some games and enjoy a beer or two afterwards chatting to his old mates.

The Masters community extend their condolences to the Clark family on the loss of Willie.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday 10th November 2020. Time 14h00. At St James Presbyterian Church, 3 Oxford Road, Bedford Gardens, Bedfordview 💔

Rest in Peace Big Guy.

SA Masters Water Polo

Hi everyone

KZN have offered to withdraw their bid for 2021 in favour of Stellenbosch having to cancel the 2020 event.

Thus 2021 will be in Stellenbosch. Once logistics have been sorted, we will advise all.

@⁨Jared Wingate-Pearse⁩ – thanks to you and your team for all the hard work you put into organising this year’s event only to have factors outside your control putting a damper on events.

We wish you all the best for 2021.

Please let all your clubs know.

Dex was chairman of SA Masters Waterpolo in 1996 and was a stalwart of the old Eastern Transvaal waterpolo sides in the early years.

Late Vaughan McClaren

Just got the tragic news that Vaughan McClaren was killed in a car accident in White River yesterday.

Vaughan was a staunch Masters player of any years before he lost interest and inclination –  he had joined us on a few overseas Masters tours.

His dry humour and wit will be missed by all who knew him, I will pass on the condolences of all Masters players around the country, to his Family and Friends.

RIP Vaughan

Regards,

Neville Clarence

Late Igor Kabalin

It is with regret and sadness that I have to let you all know that Igor passed away after a short illness today (10 Sep 2019).

As some of you may remember , Igor was a stalwart of Masters polo , having got his 20 yr costume a few years back , and was living for quite some time in Cape Town.

Our thoughts go to his family and friends

Regards,

Neville Clarence

Late Rupert Gush

Hi all ,

It is with sadness that I pass on the news that Rupert Gush has passed away.

Although Rupert was not a staunch Masters player, only having playing a few times in the early days, those who knew him will remember that he was a true Scholar and Gentleman, and contributed hugely to all aspects of sport.

If I remember correctly, he was the Founder of Florida Water Polo, and also an Old Eds rugby player and administrator.

I am sure he will be keenly missed and pass on to his Family the deepest condolences of the whole Gauteng Masters polo fraternity.

Regards,

Neville Clarence

Late Eddie Tinker

It is with sad news that we learnt of the passing of Eddie Tinker from Easterns after a growth was removed. Eddie was a stalwart of Easterns and many of the older players will remember their tussles during Currie Cup and other tournaments.

Eddie was a larger than life character and even won Spirit of Masters.

RIP old mate.
